Coach’s Bio- Delaney Taylor
Playing Experience-Coach Delaney began playing when she was 12 in her hometown of Oakland, CA. Her mom was the middle blocker for CAL back in the day and introduced her to volleyball at a very young age. She was a very shy kid and finally had the courage to go to school tryouts in 7th grade and started playing club that year.
She played at Berkeley high; 1 year JV and 3 years varsity- making rookie of the year my sophomore year and all league honorable mention in her senior year.
She set for Middle TN state (conference: USA), Oregon State (conference: PAC12), and San Diego State (conference: Mountain west)
She played for various clubs growing up, the most notable being Vision Volleyball Club where she played for them for two years. Both years she was at vision she was on the 18’s playing under Jason Mansfield who was the Stanford assistant at the time. They were one of America’s strongest teams projected to finish top 3 in the nation but faced some obstacles at the junior nationals finishing 7th in the United States.
Awards High school: co-captain my senior year
At MTSU – named setter of the week after tallying 62 assists in one match. Lead the team with 740 assists
At OSU – named most improved player of the year
Coach Delaney started coaching in 2017 at one of California’s most well-known clubs; Coast volleyball based in San Diego. She coached the 13’s and 14’s for two years and also helped out with the 18’s and 16’s as well as traveling to junior nationals with the 12’s to assist with their team. At Coast she also assisted with the volleytots clinics which were kids 5-8 years old and with summer camps and setting clinics. When she moved to Memphis she coached at various clubs as well as ran indoor clinics and sand clinics. She also ran clinics at the Kroc center for Ages 4 and up to teach those new to the sport.
Coach Delaney has a very diverse background in the sport and have been fortune enough to have been taught by some of the best;
Ron Swerver – Olympic outside hitter for the Netherlands 97’, Jason Mansfield – Stanford and Washington assistant coach now head coach at university of Illinois, Kasey Crider – Setter for Pepperdine and volunteer assistant for Stanford and now coaches at university of Miami,
Terry Liskevych- former united stated Olympic head coach, Carly Lloyd – former setter for USA Olympic team , John Dunning – former Stanford head coach
